History of the Department

The Science & Technology Department was created on March, 1983. Promotion of Renewable Energy Programmes was one of the thrust area and objective of the Department and most of the resources were concentrated in this direction. In 1995, State Government created new Department of Non Conventional Energy Sources by bifurcating the Science & Technology Department. Accordingly, priority areas of Department were reframed.
